The detector enables detection of an early stage of fire when visible smoke appears. The unique design of the Swirl chamber accelerates smoke detection. It is protected by a precise stainless steel Hexamesh filter that protects against the ingress of contaminants into the chamber. The cleanliness of the chamber is automatically controlled and gradual changes in the optical chamber caused by dust deposition are automatically compensated.

The ASD-250 detector is supported by:

• ABAX 2 ACU-220, ACU-280 system controllers and the ARU-200 retransmitter
• ABAX ACU-120, ACU-280 system controllers, the INTEGRA 128-WRL control panel, and the ARU-100 retransmitter
  

To fully utilize the detector's capabilities, it is recommended that it work with ABAX 2 controllers. Here is a list of features and functions available in the ABAX 2 system.
