Satel TOPAZ Miniature Digital Motion Sensor

The TOPAZ sensor enables detection of movement in the protected area. The detector can be interfaced with any alarm control panel, and using jumpers, it can be configured to simplify installation when used with SATEL alarm control panels.

The detector's small housing size and attractive design ensure minimal interference with the décor of protected rooms, which will certainly be appreciated by the most demanding customers.

The TOPAZ detector is equipped with built-in EOL resistors, which facilitates its installation.

Drawing description:

1. S pins for determining the detector's sensitivity:
   • closed – high sensitivity (detection area for high sensitivity);
   • open – normal sensitivity (detection area for normal sensitivity).
2. L pins for turning the LED on/off. The LED is on when the pins are shorted.
3. Red LED indicating:
   • Alarm – lights for 2 seconds;
   • Warning – flashes rapidly;
4. Pyroelectric element. Do not touch the pyroelectric element to avoid contaminating it.
5. Tamper contact.
6. Pins for configuring the detector's alarm outputs. If the jumpers are connected as shown in Figure 2, the built-in EOL resistors are used. If the jumper is installed as shown in Figure 3, the built-in EOL resistors are not used.
7. Terminals:
   • +12V – power input;
   • COM – ground;
   • 2EOL – alarm output (2EOL/NC) – when connecting the detector to the control panel, connect one of the terminals to the ground terminal and the other to the input terminal;
   • NC – alarm output (NC relay)
   • TMP – tamper output (NC)

Installation

All electrical connections should be made using Power off.

1. Open the housing
2. Remove the electronics board.
3. Drill holes for screws and the cable in the housing base.
4. Run the cable through the hole.
5. Use wall plugs and screws to secure the housing base to the wall.
6. Connect the wires to the appropriate terminals.
7. Use jumpers to set the detector's operating parameters.
8. Close the detector housing.

Start-up and Range Test

Note: The LED should be on when testing the detector's range.

1. Turn on the power. The LED will begin flashing, indicating that the detector is warming up.
2. When the LED stops flashing, check whether movement within the detector's detection area will activate the alarm relay and illuminate the LED.
